In 1976, Joni Eareckson Tada wrote the book Joni about God’s hand on her after the accident that rendered her a quadriplegic. Forty years later, she recalled: “When I was asked to write [the book], my friend Steve Estes warned, ‘Joni, just remember that your testimony won’t change people’s hearts. Only the Word of God can do that. Be sure to always point people to the Bible when you share your story.’ He was right.”
Anyone who follows Joni knows that she has continually made a point (whether in her speaking or writing) to steer people to Scripture. And look at the impact! I am personally reminded today to let the Lord’s Word do its work.
